Book Description:

Riley Anderson comes to you because she has no other choice. Her fiancé, an investigative journalist, has been kidnapped by the mob and the police will do nothing to find him for twenty-four hours. By then, she's sure Leo will be dead.

Something is seriously wrong, you can sense it. But you're a newbie Private Investigator with little experience and few friends to assist you. Can you save the day, or will your inexperience get both Leo and Riley killed?

You are the only one who can locate the clues hidden in the twelve short stories, plucked from 4 - 5 star romance novels by bestselling authors: Jennie Marts, Bev Pettersen, Marie Treanor, Debora Dennis, Red L Jameson, Dariel Raye, Kayelle Allen, Ann Omasta, Lana Williams, Sydney Jane Baily, Nhys Glover and Tonya Plank.

You are the only one who has any chance of succeeding.

Will you take on the case?

Excerpt:

"How long has he been missing, Miss…?" I should have gotten her name first. My bad. But the people side of this business wasn't my strong suit.

"Riley Anderson. And my fiancé is Leo Caravaggio." She fished her phone out of her pocket and thrust it towards me so I could see a series of photos of Leo and her in impromptu selfies.

I frowned. I knew his name, and not just because it belonged to an Old Master.

"What's wrong? Why are you frowning?" she demanded anxiously.

"Nothing. I just recognise your fiancé's name, but I don't know where from." I tried to remain aloof, but I could feel the last of my professional distance slipping through my fingers like sand.

"Oh, is that all? You probably know his blog. He's an investigative journalist and blogger. He specialises in organised crime exposés. That's why I know he's in terrible trouble. Deadly trouble."

She twisted her hands on her lap, and I winced in sympathy. If she kept that up she'd break a finger.

"How do you know he's been kidnapped? I assume that's what you think has happened."

"Yes. I think the mob took him. More specifically, the Donetti syndicate. They were the ones Leo was researching. He wouldn't tell me much about it because he worried I might end up in trouble if I knew too much. But now he's the one in trouble, and I just don't know enough to help him!" Riley wailed the last part as she teetered on the edge.

She was beginning to shatter. If I wanted to stop her, I had to refocus her on what she did know.

"When did he go missing?"

"Two hours ago. It took me that long to get rejected by the police and find you on the net. It says you specialise in missing persons… That's right, isn't it?" Once again, I could see doubt in her eyes.

"How do you know he's not just following a lead? I know from personal experience that I can go off-the-grid for as much as a day when I'm on the trail –"

"Because we were supposed to meet for lunch," she interrupted impatiently. "And he didn't arrive. I'd only spoken to him half an hour before, and he was fine and on his way then.

"Even if he'd received last minute information that required him to take off, he would have let me know. He's considerate like that. And he hasn't checked in with any of his contacts, or the paper, and his phone is dead."

"Do you live together?"

"Yes. For a year now. Why?"

"Because it will make checking out his personal property easier. Does he work from home?"

"Yes. He does freelance work for the Courier, but he works from home. All his files are there."

"What do you do for a living, Miss Anderson?"

"Call me Riley. I'm a buyer for a department store. It's a hectic job and it was a big deal for me to take an extended lunch today – for our anniversary. That's why I knew Leo was in trouble. This was a special date."

I thought quickly. There wasn't a lot to go on. But maybe if I checked out their place, I'd get some ideas. It was a start. And my gut was telling me that Riley was right. Her fiancé was running out of time. I had to find him before the Donettis made mincemeat of him.

Bio:

Flashpoint Finds was created to meet the needs of both readers and authors struggling to find each other amidst the glut of second-rate fiction clogging the media streams. It is the brainchild of award winning romance author, Nhys Glover, who had become increasingly frustrated, as both as a reader and a writer, by the maze of ebooks hitting the cybershelves. So she decided to do something to shortcut the labyrinthine search for good books. A game player from way back, she set about combining satisfying short-story flashpoints from a collection of best-selling authors with a mystery treasure hunt that could net players prizes. The result was an innovative way for readers to discover new pathways to quality reading material and authors to find new appreciative audiences for their beloved books. More than a novel, more than a game, and more than a research project, Flashpoint Finds is a fun new way to find books you'll love!

Release Blitz! - No Trouble at All by Lisa Acerbo

Image and video hosting by TinyPic

Description:

It's a bad day for Sophie Carter when she stumbles across a dead body in the woods. But when the suspected murderer turns out to be a leather-clad vagabond who died in 1889, her carefully controlled quiet life explodes. Not only is Sophie in the wrong place at the wrong time, as a local history buff who loves old legends, she knows too much about the past to remain uninvolved. Trouble is a killer and no one can escape.

Detective Jackson Lynch asks Sophie to help him decipher the legend of the Old Leather Man and unravel the mystery of the murdered woman. Going against her best judgment, Sophie joins forces with the distractingly sexy detective on the police investigation and in pursuit of a killer. Jackson is hot to solve the case as they follow the clues through Connecticut and New York State, uncovering both legend and fact.

As they move closer to solving the murder, a series of missteps cause Sophie to end up in Jackson’s arms and straight in the media. Trouble is everywhere. Jackson’s career begins to crumble and Sophie becomes a suspect in the heinous crime. The case unravels. The past and present collide. Sophie is swept into more danger than she could ever imagine when the Old Leather Man comes looking for her hide to tan.

Excerpt:

Sophie loved to hike and run, continuously finding new trails to explore in the vicinity. She enjoyed the convenience of living forty-five minutes outside New York City, just over the New York border in Glenville, Connecticut. The town was far enough away that she could still immerse herself in nature, but close enough to the city that she could attend concerts, events, and culture when she needed a change. She explored the abundant state parks and open green spaces that abounded close by, enjoying the diversity found in the change of seasons.

Today was a little different. Sophie had departed for her run from her home in southern Connecticut much later than anticipated. A fender bender at the local Starbucks in Greenwich delayed her further.

In her defense, she had just tapped the back of the other car when she backed out of her parking space. There had been minimal damage. The white haired older couple, Fran and Frank Bunkowsky, while a tad grouchy about what the dent might mean for their insurance, were overall relatively pleasant.

They even invited Sophie for tea the next day.

Then Sophie had driven the thirty odd miles to the Pound Ridge Reservation, looking forward to an energizing run.

But her morning continued to be troubled.

As she locked her car and began to stretch, sweat streamed from her brow in large droplets. The autumn day in the forests of the outer suburbs of New York City had turned muggy. At the entrance of the trail where she planned to begin her run, the day turned angrier and even more unseasonably hot for September. The threat of thunderstorms darkened the skies. To top it off, she had forgotten both bug spray and bottled water, making the jaunt through the woods not nearly as relaxing or therapeutic as expected.

The sky was troubled; her day was troubled.

She could not shake the premonition that things were about to get worse.

This wasn’t the first time she had felt that way. Probably would not be the last. Nature, at least, offered solace and peace.

She began to run the trail.

For the last few years since she had quit her job at the hospital because she just couldn’t handle watching people die anymore, Sophie regularly came here to watch the maple, beech, and birch trees turn shades of leafy avocado green in Springtime and then morph to bright yellows, reds, and oranges in the Fall.

This was one of the prettiest areas to visit year round. She loved the changes that came month by month making each trip unique. While a few tree leaves had swapped green for yellow, it was still too early in September for a dramatic seasonal display.

Gnats, on the other hand, were in full force, swarming around her curly brown ponytail like tiny fighter jets while leaving every other hiker she passed on the trail alone. They must like her shampoo. The ecstatic bugs were drawn to her chestnut curls like it was irresistible gnat candy.

Book Description:

Being a Succubus has its perks…until the hunter becomes the hunted.

For half-breed succubus Ava Hawley, hunting supernatural foes is worth all the risks and rewards. But when a wolf shifter is responsible for kidnapping her sister, the mission becomes personal. Ava is ordered to track down the bad boy and turn him over to her boss. That is, until she meets the dangerously sexy shifter and realizes her charm—the kiss of death—is no match for the charms of her opponent.

Alpha werewolf Killian Reid is on the run from a demon mistress, but someone else is on his tail—a stunning seductress with more sex appeal than any woman ought to have. And Killian can't resist her. Proving his innocence will be a challenge, but with every moment that he spends with her, Ava’s self-control weakens. And as their attraction grows, she knows she’ll have to rely on the shifter she'd been sent to capture, or they’ll both become victims to another predator…

Excerpt:

Ava reached out for Killian's hand and pulled him to the side. The movement to touch him was
instinctual. “I can't let you risk it alone. This is my battle too.”

“We don't have time, love.” He took hold of her chin, running his thumb over her bottom lip. Not giving it too much thought—and because she wanted to—she thrust her tongue out and licked him. The taste of mornings in spring and mint burst into her mouth. She gasped softly and his eyes darkened. “Save it,” he growled low. “I know what you're trying to do.”

Her gaze lowered. Defeated.

“We'll talk later when this is all over.” He leaned forward, leveling his eyes with hers. “The part about us.”

“Won't happen if we go with your plan.”

“It's the only way to gain access into the estate.”

“What if it doesn't work?” Concern spiraled in her gut.

“We won't know if we don't try.”

She couldn't help but wonder if he was referring to them again. The thought of them together had crossed her mind a couple of times, but she couldn't envision being with the wolf. A possessive shifter was dangerous all around. The man's aura radiated nothing but danger and violence. The telltale hint of darkness and dominance gave it away. Besides, wolf shifters mated for life and Ava didn't know if she was ready for that.

Bio:
