Description:

It's a bad day for Sophie Carter when she stumbles across a dead body in the woods. But when the suspected murderer turns out to be a leather-clad vagabond who died in 1889, her carefully controlled quiet life explodes. Not only is Sophie in the wrong place at the wrong time, as a local history buff who loves old legends, she knows too much about the past to remain uninvolved. Trouble is a killer and no one can escape.

Detective Jackson Lynch asks Sophie to help him decipher the legend of the Old Leather Man and unravel the mystery of the murdered woman. Going against her best judgment, Sophie joins forces with the distractingly sexy detective on the police investigation and in pursuit of a killer. Jackson is hot to solve the case as they follow the clues through Connecticut and New York State, uncovering both legend and fact.

As they move closer to solving the murder, a series of missteps cause Sophie to end up in Jackson’s arms and straight in the media. Trouble is everywhere. Jackson’s career begins to crumble and Sophie becomes a suspect in the heinous crime. The case unravels. The past and present collide. Sophie is swept into more danger than she could ever imagine when the Old Leather Man comes looking for her hide to tan.

Excerpt:

Sophie loved to hike and run, continuously finding new trails to explore in the vicinity. She enjoyed the convenience of living forty-five minutes outside New York City, just over the New York border in Glenville, Connecticut. The town was far enough away that she could still immerse herself in nature, but close enough to the city that she could attend concerts, events, and culture when she needed a change. She explored the abundant state parks and open green spaces that abounded close by, enjoying the diversity found in the change of seasons.

Today was a little different. Sophie had departed for her run from her home in southern Connecticut much later than anticipated. A fender bender at the local Starbucks in Greenwich delayed her further.

In her defense, she had just tapped the back of the other car when she backed out of her parking space. There had been minimal damage. The white haired older couple, Fran and Frank Bunkowsky, while a tad grouchy about what the dent might mean for their insurance, were overall relatively pleasant.

They even invited Sophie for tea the next day.

Then Sophie had driven the thirty odd miles to the Pound Ridge Reservation, looking forward to an energizing run.

But her morning continued to be troubled.

As she locked her car and began to stretch, sweat streamed from her brow in large droplets. The autumn day in the forests of the outer suburbs of New York City had turned muggy. At the entrance of the trail where she planned to begin her run, the day turned angrier and even more unseasonably hot for September. The threat of thunderstorms darkened the skies. To top it off, she had forgotten both bug spray and bottled water, making the jaunt through the woods not nearly as relaxing or therapeutic as expected.

The sky was troubled; her day was troubled.

She could not shake the premonition that things were about to get worse.

This wasn’t the first time she had felt that way. Probably would not be the last. Nature, at least, offered solace and peace.

She began to run the trail.

For the last few years since she had quit her job at the hospital because she just couldn’t handle watching people die anymore, Sophie regularly came here to watch the maple, beech, and birch trees turn shades of leafy avocado green in Springtime and then morph to bright yellows, reds, and oranges in the Fall.

This was one of the prettiest areas to visit year round. She loved the changes that came month by month making each trip unique. While a few tree leaves had swapped green for yellow, it was still too early in September for a dramatic seasonal display.

Gnats, on the other hand, were in full force, swarming around her curly brown ponytail like tiny fighter jets while leaving every other hiker she passed on the trail alone. They must like her shampoo. The ecstatic bugs were drawn to her chestnut curls like it was irresistible gnat candy.

Book Description:

Tara’s marriage began to deteriorate soon after it began. As her fifth wedding anniversary arrives,

Tara is determined to fix the damage and rekindle the love affair.

Brad could not wait for his military deployment to end so he and his fiancé could begin their lives together. His future plans crumbled the afternoon he found his fiancé in the arms of another man.

Unwilling to risk further heartache, Brad abandons his dreams of starting a family and focuses his energy on his career.   Elizabeth struggled with infertility for years.  Her obsession with having a child almost cost her the love of her life. After a brief separation and personal heartbreak, Elizabeth is ready to start anew.

Tom has made a lifetime of bad decisions. After years of dishonesty, he’s prepared to clean up his past and move forward with the woman he loves.

A late-night accident yanks all four characters out of their comfortable lives and into a world of secrets, lies and heartbreak. Will the deceit destroy their happiness? Will any of the relationships survive?

Excerpt:

Laura waved Tara and Charlotte past the scene in the waiting room and led them into the elevator.

The three women did not speak until they arrived to the administrative wing.

“Come on in,” she said.

Laura’s office contained an oblong glass desk covered with folders and computer equipment. Nestled in the corner of the room were a dark, wooden table and chairs. Tara and Charlotte each took a seat at the table while Laura relocated a large, silk floral arrangement from the center of the table to the floor.

She removed a legal pad from her desk drawer and joined the two women at the table. “Mrs. Steffen,” she looked at Charlotte. “How are you related to Thomas Steffen?”

“I’m his mother.”

“Do you have your driver’s license with you?”

“Sure.” Charlotte opened her purse and dug through her wallet. “Here it is.” She handed it to Laura.

“What is your relationship with Thomas Steffen?” She asked Tara.

“I’m his wife.” She removed her driver’s license from her wallet and slid it to Laura.

The women sat in silence for several minutes while Laura copied information to the legal pad.

“Do you require this information for insurance reasons?” Tara asked. “My husband’s boss is in the waiting room. He can provide medical insurance details.”

Laura folded her hands on top of the legal pad and stared at Tara and Charlotte. “Three people came to the Intensive Care Unit claiming to be Tom’s family members.”

“What?” Charlotte and Tara responded in unison.

Laura nodded. “Rest assured your husband is safe. A guard is stationed outside his door and the people are banned from visiting.”

A line formed between Tara’s brow. “This is crazy.”

“I have never experienced this type of situation and wanted to take safety precautions.” She slid the driver’s licenses back to the two women. “I apologize for the inconvenience.”

“I’m glad you are on top of this matter,” Charlotte said. “Why would someone do such a thing?”

“The man who confronted you on the way to your office, is he…”

“I can’t provide the identity.” Laura interrupted.

“Some whack-job is trying to gain access to my husband. What if he approaches me or Charlotte outside the hospital? We could be in danger.”

“I will permit you to park in the doctor’s parking lot and assign security guards to escort you to your car each night.” She bit her lip. “If your gut warns you to keep away from the man we encountered in the waiting room, go with it.”

Tara nodded.

“One more thing you should know,” Laura told them. “The man’s wife offered to submit to a paternity test. Considering Tom is an adult, her request is ridiculous. Should she pursue this matter with the courts, we’re obligated to comply.” Laura waved her hand. “Not that I expect her to take the matter to court.”

Tara sighed. “We won’t have a problem getting into ICU for visiting hours tomorrow, will we?”

Laura shook her head. “No. I requested you stop by my office tonight, so you won’t have a problem tomorrow.”

Tara stood up and shook Laura’s hand. “Thank you.”

“I don’t know what to think,” she told Charlotte on the way back to the ICU waiting room. “This whole situation is crazy.”

Charlotte stopped and turned to face her daughter-in-law. Her eyes sagged and her mouth hung slack.
“I have something to tell you.”

Description:

Jack Norris just lost his best friend—who also happened to be his band’s drummer—to a drunk driving accident. As he navigates the uncertainty of the band’s future, as well as his own personal demons, his life spirals out of control. To make matters worse, his dead friend is back, and it’s wreaking havoc on Jack’s sanity. When a new acquaintance not only hooks him up with a drummer, but promises to help get rid of his ghostly stalker, Jack’s life does a one eighty.

Drew MacLellan, the new drummer, is helping to bring the band back from the dead. He’s also got an insanely hot older sister who is definitely not Jack’s biggest fan. Jen MacLellan is nothing like the women Jack’s dated in the past, but the more he gets to know her, the deeper he falls. The only problem is, she’s got a boyfriend. Caught between his growing attraction and the desire to do the right thing, Jack does everything he can to keep things as just friends. The longer it goes on, the more he realizes it isn’t possible. Can Jack win the heart of the woman he’s fallen for? And can he figure out how to help his dead friend rest in peace...permanently?

Excerpt:

My eyelids strain against gravity. Last night’s binge hangs in the back of my throat, threatening to reappear. Maybe. All I know is the inside of my mouth tastes like a used tissue and my head throbs, right between the eyes. I don’t even remember how I got home.

“Hey, Jack, get up.” The door swings open and my brother Ashton pokes his head in. A beam of light cuts through the darkness and stabs me square in the face. Am I still drunk? Groan. I shouldn’t have had those last three beers. Or that shot of whiskey to top it off. Right now, any sudden movement would be a bad idea.

“Dude?” Ashton widens his eyes at me and jerks his head to the side, a move that’s one part impatience, but mostly asshole.

I fold my arms behind my head to show him I’m not in a rush to do anything. This will piss him off even more, I’m sure of it. It’ll also give me time to scrape the fuzz from my brain. “What.”

“Uh, funeral?” He looks at his watch. “It’s nine-thirty and we need to be there in forty-five minutes.”

As if I could forget something like that. My buddy Eben got tanked a few nights ago and lost control of his car. It flipped over, skidded across the median, and smashed into the concrete barriers on the other side. They say he died instantly.

“And?”

His eyes look like they’re ready to roll back into his skull. “And you need to get your lazy ass out of bed. Now.”

Right. Get out of bed. It doesn’t seem possible that I’m burying one of my closest friends today. A wave of dizziness washes over me as I try to sit. My eyes snap shut. That’s it, I’m never drinking again. “Chill the fuck out. I’m getting up.”

“Yeah, well, get a move on.” He stands in the doorway with his arms folded across his chest and watches me. Could he be any more annoying?

“What?”

“If I leave the room, you’re just gonna sit there instead of coming out to the kitchen. Where the rest of the band is already waiting, by the way.” He cocks his head to the side. “They’re pretty much always waiting on you, aren’t they?”

“Go fuck yourself,” I mumble while I untangle my legs from the blanket. I’m holding my breath now. It’s funny how smells like stale air and dirty laundry seem magnified when you feel like you’re gonna puke.

Ashton shakes his head. “Grow up.”

I shoot him a dirty look, but don’t answer.

“Sometime today.”

“Do I at least have time to shower, or are you gonna stand there with the stopwatch if I do that too?” I grab a towel from the floor and brush past him, slamming the bathroom door behind me.

“Hurry up, Jack.” His voice is thankfully muffled by the door.

The shower turns cold after the first couple minutes. I stay under the water anyway, tilt my head back and focus on the mosaic of peeling paint and mold spots above me. Man, I never realized what a luxury hot water was until I moved in with my brother. I’m shivering to the point my teeth chatter together by the time I get out, but I couldn’t possibly be more awake.

Book Description:

A woman and her two daughters are killed in a car bombing in Tel Aviv. The woman, Kat, a sophisticated academic, is also a Mossad assassin of nearly twenty years. Her husband, Pantera, identifies the bodies of his wife and children, swearing vengeance. Reaching as far back as 1989, to their meeting in Rome at a U.S. Embassy New Year's Eve ball, Deadly Dance starts the story of their relationship in the onion-layered world of covert operatives. Of necessity theirs is an encounter beset by lies wrapped in half-truths, concealed in shadowy realities. Kat and Pantera maneuver through action-packed covert operations, romantic encounters, torture and acrobatic combat, all while coming to grips about who they're hunting and who is hunting them.

Deadly Dance is based on the life of the youngest Kidon Katsa agent in the history of Mossad and her husband, the fabled Chief Black Site Interrogator, who worked under such special access programs as the Operation Copper Green (created under Donald Rumsfeld), the United Nations Security Council - Special Operations Group (UN-SOG), and Task Forces 88 and 121.

Excerpt:

The mother waved the café owner over. “Moti, we’re ready to leave.”

Alyn felt at ease in Moti Lichtenfeld’s café. Moti, a squat man sporting a heavy beard approached with a limp, a permanent reminder of his Mossad days. The longtime family friend and son of the founder of Krav Maga placed the tab on the table.

“Thank you for coming, Alyn. Please tell your sister to come by next time she’s in town. We miss her and … dare I say … her energy,” he said in soft Hebrew, giving her a warm smile.

“I will.” She pulled three fifty Skekel notes from her purse and placed them on the table to cover her tab.

Moti looked at Alyn’s daughters, and said, “Good-bye girls. Next time I shall tell you about the bull your mother and I wrestled when we were kids.” He winked at Alyn.

Alyn grinned at her friend and stood up. “Let’s go, ladies.”

Jade, the youngest, looked up with intense interest. Her inquisitive eyes sparkled at Moti, “Really? A bull?!”

Moti nodded and chuckled.

Electra watched her sister’s antics with an I-don’t-believe-this look while Jade continued bouncing around her mother. “Aww

Mama, come on ... You wrestled a bull? Just a couple more minutes, pleeease.”

Alyn shook her head, pulling her long, straight black hair up into a high ponytail. “Later Jade, now move.”

“Yes Ma’am,” Jade replied, extending her lower lip.

Alyn glanced around the café, then up and down the street. She smiled at the patrons who thought they recognized her as a famous local model. Electra, her oldest, a near replica of her statuesque mother, streaked up the sidewalk followed by the younger brown-haired, green-eyed Jade. It was a beautiful sunny day in the city as Alyn put on her Dolce & Gabbana sunglasses and continued to scan the area.

The lone Palestinian’s dark eyes followed the mother and her daughters.

Jade jumped in the air and shouted, “SHOTGUN!”

“No way, you can’t call shotgun, Dad isn’t here,” Electra said, looking to her mother for support.

“We only do that with Dad.
